The objective of the Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT) is to collect information on large and sudden population movements as well as security and climactic emergencies. Information is collected through phone interviews with key informants and direct observation. Following a fire of unknown origin that occurred on 23 October 2021 on the island of Farguimi (in the Kangalom Sous-préfecture), DTM conducted an assessment on 27 October 2021 to assess the damage caused by the fire. In total, 143 households (801 individuals) were impacted by the fire. Critical damage to houses occurred, resulting in significant loss of Non-Food Items, personal valuables and livestock.

The objective of the Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT) is to collect information on large and sudden population movements as well as security and climactic emergencies. Information is collected through phone interviews with key informants and direct observation. Following a fire of unknown origin that occurred on 12 October 2021 in the Andjalai neighbourhood in the town of Faya (Province of Borkou), DTM conducted an assessment on 13 October 2021 to assess the fire’s impacts. The fire affected 11 households (79 persons) burning the homes of eight of them and making three others to leave their homes preventively. Critical damage to palm gardens, livestock and water supplies was reported.

The objective of the Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT) is to collect information on large and sudden population movements. This dashboard provides information on movements which occurred following torrential rains on 16 September 2021,   which caused flooding in the villages of Kessy,  Ngueré  Gati,  Wollo, Woll 2, Woll 3 and Ferick ouda in  the  département  of  Nya Pendé   (Yamodo   sous-prefecture,   Logone   Oriental Province). The floods affected 184 households (930 people), causing critical damage to houses, livelihoods, hygiene and water facilities, and resulted in the loss of non-food items and livestock. It also increased the exposure to zoonotic diseases. The rain, which was still ongoing at the time of data collection, is likely to cause further damage.

The objective of the Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT) is to collect information on large and sudden population movements. This dashboard provides information on movements which occurred between 23 and 29 Septembre 2021, in four sites in Lake Province.

  • On 23 September 2021, on the orders of the authorities, 220 households of 1,450 individuals left the village of Kangou and the Kousseri Tchoukalia site (sous- préfecture of Ngouboua, department of Kaya) and moved to the site of Diamerom , located within the sous-préfecture of Liwa (département of Fouli).
  • On 25 September 2021, following an armed attack by non-state armed groups on 24 September 2021 in the village of Salia, 63 households (208 individuals) left their villages in the islands of Lake Chad (sous-préfecture of Liwa, département of Fouli) to take refuge in the Boudoukalimba site on the mainland (within the same sous-préfecture).
  • On 26 September 2021, following an armed attack by non-state armed groups on 19 September 2021, 1,000 households (4,496 individuals) pre-emptively left the surrounding villages of Kilya, Tetewa and Alkalia on the islands of Lake Chad (sous-préfecture of Kangalam, département of Mamdi) out of fear, taking refuge in the site of Kalerom on the mainland (sous-préfecture of Baga-Sola, département of Kaya).

This attack had already led to the displacement of 187 households to the Baga-Sola sub-prefecture on 20 and 21 September 2021 (see ETT report #119).

  • On 29 September 2021, due to the increase in armed attacks and abductions by non-state armed groups in the Lake Chad islands, 203 households (478 individuals) left their village in the sous-préfecture of Bol (Mamdi département) to take refuge on the mainland (within the same sous-préfecture).

The objective of the Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT) is to collect information on large and sudden population movements. This dashboard provides information on movements which occurred from 14 to 22 Septembre 2021, in five sites and two villages in the Lake Province.

-On 14, 18 and 20 September 2021, due to an increase in armed attacks and abductions by non-state armed groups (NSAGs) in the islands of Lake Chad, 72 households with 158 individuals left their villages as a preventive measure, in the sous-préfecture of Kangalom (Mamdi département) and took refuge in the Tchigam 2 site (a site located on the mainland in the sous-préfecture of Baga-Sola, Kaya département). Additionally 135 households with 996 individuals preventatively left the village of Bouleya in the sous-préfecture of Liwa (département of Fouli) to take refuge in the Madya site within the same sous-préfecture and 23 households of 83 individuals left the Kapirom and Ngachia sites (sous-préfecture of Ngouboua, département of Kaya) to take refuge in the Dar-Al Amne site (within the sub-prefecture of Baga-Sola, same département).
 
-On 20 and 21 September 2021, following an armed attack by NSAGs on 19 September 2021 in the village Teresa, a total of 599 households (2,718 individuals) left their villages on the islands of Lake Chad (sous-préfecture of Kangalom, département of Mamdi) to take refuge in the villages of Blarigui, Bibi Dar Al Amne and Tetewa village, all located on the mainland (within the same sous-préfecture).
 
-On 21 September 2021, following orders from the authorities, 62 households of 217 individuals left the village of Kangou and the surrounding villages and relocated to the site Kousserie Tchoukoutalia, located within the same sous-préfecture in the département of Kaya

This dashboard provides information on movements which occurred on 04, 15 and 20 August 2021, in three sites of Lac Province.

-Due to multiple armed attacks and kidnappings perpetrated by non-state armed groups, 240 households (1,750 individuals) preventively left the village of Lolia (located in Diffa region, Niger) to take refuge on  04 August 2021, in the site of Dar al Karama (Sous-préfecture of Baga-Sola, département of Kaya), near the site of Dar-Nahim where other Chadian returnees from Niger are settled since 2015. These newly arrived households and those who arrived since 2015 indicated that they were related.

    -On 15 August 2021, 142 households (600 individuals) left the village of Lolia-Fororo, an island of Lake Chad in the sous-préfecture of Ngouboua (département of Kaya) to take refuge in the site of Melom located on the mainland in the same sous-préfecture.

    -On 20 August 2021, 87 households (243 individuals) left the village of Kanguela, an island of Lake Chad in the sous-préfecture of Bol (département of Mamdi) to take refuge in the site of Medi-Koura on the mainland (within the same sous-préfecture).

On 11 August 2021, 1,032 Chadian nationals (133 households) arrived in the locality of Kaliwa (9th district of N'Djamena, Chad), following an inter-communal conflict that happened at the beginning of August 2021 and affected the localities of Bekoro, Kawadji and Djaramboukou (Far North region, Cameroon). These persons are hosted in two primary schools and a college. They are made up largely of children (73%), the majority of adults having remained in the places of provenance. They indicated that they had lived in Cameroon for many years and were considering returning to their places of provenance in this country as soon as the security situation improved.

The objective of the Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT) is to collect information on large and sudden population movements as well as security and climatic emergencies. Following heavy rains which occured from 12 to 19 July 2021 and caused severe flooding in the cantons of Koumra, Matekaga and Goundi, in the département of Mandoul oriental (Province of Mandoul), DTM conducted an ETT assessment to measure the impact of the flooding. Information was collected through in-person interviews with key informants and direct observations, from 29 July to 02 August 2021. The floods affected 33,417 persons from 5,671 households, has caused critical damage to homes, livelihoods, water and sanitation facilities and led to loss of Non-Food Items and livestock They have also increased the exposure of populations to zoonotic diseases. As the rainfall continues there is a continued threat of further damage.
