From 3 to 11 June 2019 IOM, in close coordination with the Government of Mozambique agency Instituto Nacional de Gestão de Calamidades, conducted the sixth round of the multi-sectoral location assessments in 50 sites (46 resettlement sites and 4 accommodation centers) in Buzi, Cidade da Beira, Cidade da Tete, Dondo, Maganja da Costa, Mutarara, Namacurra, Nhamatanda, Nicoadala and Sussundenga districts.

Between 02 and 04 June 2019, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in coordination with the Government of Mozambique through National Institute for Disaster Risk Management (INGC), carried out the second round of site assessments in five open sites. 285 families corresponding to 1,393 individuals were reported across the five assessed open displacement sites.

Tropical Cyclone kenneth made landfall in north Mozambique the night of 25 April 2019. On 02 May 2019, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in coordination with the Government of Mozambique through National Institute for Disaster Risk Management (INGC) carried out site assessments in seven evacuation centers. Four in Pemba city, one in Ibo, one in Metuge and one in Mecufi districts in the Cabo Delgado province north of Mozambique. 472 families correspondent to 2,383 individuals were reported across the seven assessed displacement sites open. In few sites, the number of individuals or households are derived from the household average of 5 individuals per household.

From 2 to 13 May, in close coordination with Mozambique’s National Institute for Disaster Management (INGC), IOM DTM (Displacement Tracking Matrix) teams conducted baseline assessments at Locality level (Localidade), which corresponds to the lowest administrative level in the Country. The first round covered 4 districts in Sofala province, specifically Beira City, Buzi, Dondo and Nhamatanda. The DTM teams interviewed locality chiefs capturing population estimates and geographic distribution, population movements, shelter repairs and access to services in host communities.
