As part of IOM’s Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) preparedness activities, DTM operates Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) on the borders with Uganda (UGA), the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Central African Republic (CAR). In total, 21 EVD-dedicated FMPs were active in May. This dashboard highlights key entry routes to South Sudan (SSD) and presents the demographic profile of people surveyed on arrival from the three neighbouring countries at risk of EVD transmission. Participation in the survey is voluntary and the data collected is only indicative of actual flows.

  • Flow Monitoring

As part of IOM’s Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) preparedness activities, DTM operates Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) on the borders with Uganda (UGA), the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and the Central African Republic (CAR). In total, 21 FMPs were active between January and April 2019, surveying 98,799 people on arrival to South Sudan. This report complements DTM’s monthly EVD Preparedness Dashboards (January, February, March and April) by providing an insight on mobility trends to South Sudan from the three high-risk countries over the first four months of 2019.

Participation in the survey is voluntary and the data collected is only indicative of actual flows. Time trends may be driven by operational as well as contextual factors.

It provides an insight into mobility trends, migration drivers and traveller profiles to inform programming by humanitarian and development partners and by the government. In total, 28 Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) were active in April 2019, surveying internal flows and cross-border travel with Uganda (UGA), the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Sudan (SDN) and the Central African Republic (CAR). DTM opened 4 new FMPs in April: Birigo (Lainya County), Lasu, Logobero and Lutaya (Yei County). Yei RRC was replaced by Logobero and Lutaya. In total, 52,913 people were surveyed in April 2019.
