The DTM Emergency Event Tracking (EET) is deployed to track sudden displacement and population movements, provide more frequent updates on the scale of displacement, and quantify the affected population when needed. As a subcomponent of the new Mobility Tracking methodology in Sudan (Round Four), and activated on a need basis, EET utilises a broad network of key informants to capture best estimates of the affected population presence per location – a useful tool for humanitarian response planning and design

As of June 2022, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) in the East and Horn of Africa was active in six countries (Burundi,
Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda), and its methodology includes four main components (mobility tracking,
flow monitoring, registrations and surveys).
This info sheet provides an overview of key DTM figures and programming in the East and Horn of Africa region. In 2022, DTM was active in 7 countries: Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan and Uganda. DTM is the official provider of internal displacement figures in Burundi, Ethiopia and South Sudan, while the regional network of flow monitoring points established in key areas of high mobility tracks cross-border movement trends.

DTM Global Survey 2023
The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Global Survey 2023 is an annual stocktaking exercise which aims to present IOM DTM's operations and activities transparently. The Global Survey focuses on operations active from January 1 to December 31, 2023, with data collection occurring from February to April 2024.
