This snapshot provides an overview of the impact of drought on human mobility in the region, with a focus on Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia.

La DTM a identifié 411 personnes affectées dont 350 personnes déplacées par les pluies torrentielles et les glissements de terrain dans les provinces de Makamba et Bujumbura Rural.

From 15 April 2023, armed clashes erupted between the Sudanese Army Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in multiple cities across Sudan, including Khartoum, Al Fasher, Kebkabiya, Merowe, Nyala, Ag Geneina, and El Obeid. DTM Sudan has been receiving reports of widespread displacement across different states in Sudan due to the ongoing security situation. 

• Since 15 April 2023, DTM estimates that approximately 843,130 individuals (168,354 households) have been displaced internally as a result of the conflict.
• Notably, the current estimate for displacement since the conflict began is comparable to that recorded by DTM Sudan for all displacement during 2021 and 2022 combined.
• Furthermore, an estimated an additional 253,591 individuals have crossed into neighbouring countries.

Due to the ongoing nature of the fighting, many areas reportedly remain inaccessible to humanitarian actors. DTM estimates of displacement are based on preliminary reports from field teams and should be taken as estimations only. Additional reports of displacement are likely to emerge as the situation becomes clearer.

Locations of displacement have been reported in 16 of Sudan’s 18 states. Namely, these include the states of Khartoum, Northern, River Nile, Aj Jazirah, North Kordofan, South Kordofan, White Nile, Sennar, Blue Nile, North Darfur, South Darfur, West Darfur, Central Darfur, Kassala, Gedaref, and Red Sea. 

Disclaimer: DTM Sudan notes that military clashes remain continuous in many areas across Sudan in particular in Khartoum and the Darfur region – limiting humanitarian access. Additionally, field teams have reported severe telecommunication and connectivity issues, as well as escalating economic pressures which have impacted the capacity for domestic travel. As such, DTM is currently conducting remote interviews with key informants across its network and is currently unable to engage in the additional verification of these figures. Data on flows into neighbouring countries is based on available information from DTM flow monitoring networks and secondary sources. 

The objective of the Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT) is to collect information on large and sudden population movements as well as on security and climate emergencies. Information is collected through key informant interviews or direct observation. This dashboard presents information on a movement which occurred on 14 May 2023 in the town of Ounianga-Kébir, located in the province of Ennedi Ouest, near the Libyan border.

Selon les informations collectées, dans la nuit du 08 au 09 mai 2023, une attaque par un groupe armé non-étatique
(GANE) dans la localité de Ldingling (localité de Tourou) sur la frontalière avec le Nigeria avec pour bilan un enfant de
16 ans enlevé, plusieurs boutiques détruites et pillées, des dégâts matériels et des denrées alimentaires emportées.
Entre le mois d’avril et le début du mois de mai 2023, plusieurs incursions armées dans les localités de Tourou,
de Locktcha, de Toufou 2, d'Oupai, de Ziver et de Ldoubam-Bas ont entrané un bilan de trois pertes en vies humaines,
huit personnes gravement blessées et des articles ménagers, des petits ruminants et des denrées alimentaires emportés
par les assaillants.
Le 22 avril 2023, un conflit intercommunautaire entre les populations d'Oupai et de Ziver, occasionne occasionnant plus
de 70 cases brûlées, plusieurs personnes gravement blessées, de nombreux dégâts matériels dont des articles ménagers
et le vol de denrée alimentaires.
Face à cette montée d’insécurité et de conflits intercommunautaires, les populations des localités d'Oupai, et de Ziver
(arrondissement de Koza) de Ldingling, de Tourou, de Locktcha, de de Toufou 2, de Ldoubam-Bas, de Moutaz,
de Hidoua et de Ngossi (arrondissement de Mokolo) ont été contraintes à se déplacer vers les localités de Ldamang,
de Ldoubam-Plateau, de Mokolo, de Gorai et de Ségoulé dans l’arrondissement de Mokolo.
A ce jour l’on dénombre environ 229 ménages dont 1 760 individus déplacés internes.
