Since the release of the regional SEEECA sitrep #3 on 06 April 2020, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the SEEECA region rose by 128 per cent and now tops 110,000 cases. Compared to Europe as a whole and the rest of the world (44 and 52 per cent respectively), the rate of increase within the SEEECA region remains significantly faster. - The number of deaths in the SEEECA region increased by 129 per cent to 1,985; this is also much higher than the figures for Europe and globally (63 and 73 per cent respectively). - In the region, the highest number of COVID-19 infections is in Turkey (61,049), followed by the Russian Federation (21,102), Israel (11,235), Serbia (4,054) and Ukraine (3,372). The number of cases reported by the Russian Federation has almost tripled since 6 April. - The highest death toll is in Turkey (1,296; 126 per cent increase) followed by Russian Federation (170; 278 per cent increase), Israel (110; 139 per cent increase), Ukraine (98; 158 per cent increase) and Serbia (85; 67 per cent increase). - Austria has a total of 14,043 confirmed COVID-19 patients and 368 reported deaths, as of yesterday.
