Afin de mieux comprendre les mouvements et tendances migratoires en Afrique de l’Ouest et du Centre, l’OIM, à travers la Matrice de suivi des déplacements (Displacement Tracking Matrix, DTM), met en œuvre l’activité de Suivi des flux de populations (Flow Monitoring, FM). Au Niger, la DTM recueille des données à 7 Points de suivi des flux (Flow Monitoring Point, FMP), dans le but d’identifier les zones à forte mobilité transfrontalière et intra régionale et récolter des données sur les tendances de mobilités et les profils et parcours des voyageurs dans le pays. Ce rapport présente les données obtenues au travers des activités d’enregistrement des flux en Novembre 2021, au niveau des sept FMP installés au Niger.

During the reporting period (15 to 22 December 2021), a total of 35 movements were recorded - 11 transits (263 individuals), 10 departures (158 individuals), 8 arrivals (122 individuals), and 6 intended return movements (956 individuals). The largest individual arrivals were recorded in Ibo (45 individuals) and Ancuabe (42 individuals). The largest intended return movements were observed in Montepuez (935 individuals). The largest transits were recorded in Nangade (149 individuals) and Mueda (72 individuals). The largest departures were recorded in Balama (69 individuals) and Ibo (45 individuals). Of the total population 24 per cent were displaced for the fi­rst time, and 76 per cent of reported IDPs had been displaced more than once prior to this latest movement.

An assessment conducted on the 24th of December in Mecula sede by DTM in collaboration with the Mozambican National Institute for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction (INGD) reports the arrival of 479 internally displaced persons (IDPs) as a result of the hostilities by Non-State Armed Groups (NSAGs) in Niassa Province. As of the 24th of December, the number of IDPs in Mecula sede has increased to 3,337. Amongst these, the fir­st arrivals were recorded on 4th December, and later in‑flows on the 9th December. More are expected to arrive in the coming days. The new arrivals are residing in temporary sites (16 de Junho Primary School and Bairro 1 Culutando). All of the IDPs originated from the Naulala and surrounding localities.

Between 13 and 19 December 2021, a total of 5,791 movements were recorded in the states of Adamawa and Borno. The recorded movements consisted of 5,285 arrivals and 506 departures. Arrivals were recorded at locations in Askira/Uba, Bama, Biu, Damboa, Gwoza,  Hawul, Kala/Balge, Monguno and Ngala Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the most conflict-affected state of Borno and in Girei, Gombi, Hong, Lamurde, Maiha, Michika, Mubi South, Song, Yola North and Yola South LGAs of Adamawa.
