La DTM a identifié 76 987 personnes déplacées internes (PDI) dans 17 819 ménages déplacés dans les 18 provinces du Burundi au cours du mois d'mai 2023. Parmi les personnes identifiées, 89% ont été déplacées en raison de catastrophes liées à l'environnement tandis que 11% étaient le résultat d'autres les raisons. Un peu plus de la moitié (54%) des PDI sont des enfants de 18 ans et moins.

DTM identified 76,987 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in 17,819 displaced households in the 18 provinces of Burundi during the month of May 2023. Among those identified, 89 per cent were displaced due to environment-related disasters while 11 per cent were a result of other reasons. A little more than half (54%) of IDPs are children, 18 years old and under.

Similar to phase one, this study explores eight primary themes across Sukhbaatar district, namely, population baseline figures, registration, internal arrivals and departures (migration), employment, financial situation, mobility-related challenges, and services and infrastructure. Data are collected through key informant interviews with kheseg leaders, who are well-informed about their communities, resources and local context.
