Энэхүү судалгаагаар Улаанбаатар хотын хэмжээнд хүн амын суурь тоон үзүүлэлт, шилжин ирэгсэд ба явагсад, хөдөлмөр эрхлэлт, санхүүгийн нөхцөл байдал, тулгамдаж буй асуудал, аюулгүй байдал, үйлчилгээний хүртээмж болон дэд бүтэц, ногоон байгууламж, хүүхэд ба боловсрол гэсэн найман үндсэн сэдвийг авч үзсэн болно.

Мэдээллийг дүүрэг, хэсгийн нутаг дэвсгэрийн байдал, мэдээлэл нэгтгэгчийн нөөц бололцоо, мэдээллийн нээлттэй байдлаас хамааран хэсгийн ахлагч нар ярилцлага хийх замаар цуглуулсан болно. Олон улсын шилжилт хөдөлгөөний байгууллага (ОУШХБ)-ын өмнөх судалгаануудаас харахад газрын доройтол, уур амьсгалын өөрчлөлт зэрэг төвөгтэй хүчин зүйлс Монгол Улсын уламжлалт амьдралын хэв маягийг өөрчилж байгааг тогтоожээ. Ган, зудын давтамж нэмэгдэж, ажлын байр цөөн, амьдрах орчин нөхцөл хангалтгүй, хөдөөгийн хүн амын мал аж ахуйгаас хараат байдал зэрэг нь суурин газар болон бусад орон нутаг уруу чиглэсэн шилжилт хөдөлгөөнийг нэмэгдүүлэх хүчин зүйл болсоор байна.

Тэдгээр шилжих хөдөлгөөний үндсэн шинж чанарыг ойлгоход Монгол Улсын өөр өөр байршилд амьдарч шилжин суурьшиж буй хүн амын тооллого, бүртгэлийн мэдээлэл шаардагдах бөгөөд мэдээллийн зөрүүтэй байдал саад болж байна.

Between 1 November 2020 and 31 January 2021, DTM Ethiopia surveyed a total of 2,324 migrants across 5 Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs). These FMPs are located in Metema, Galafi, Moyale, Dawale and Tog Wochale. The majority of movements were motivated by economic reasons (78.8%), followed by marriage, family reunification or family formation (16%). Of those that reported an intended final destination, the highest proportion reported planning to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the most reported reason for choosing a final destination country was job opportunities (52%) followed by returning to their home countries (20%).
