On 16, 18, and 19 October 2024, armed bandits attacked the communities of Tse Adieku in Mbatian ward of Ukum local government area (LGA) and River Chu bridge Ahume area in Saghev/Ukusu ward of Gwer West. Farmer-herders clash also occurred within the same period in the community Tse Ule in Mbatian ward of Ukum LGA, all in Benue State. 
Additionally, on 17 and 19 October 2024, armed bandits attacked the communities of Ihuru and Yelwa in Bass/Kukoki ward of Shiroro LGA in Niger State. Twenty injuries and seven fatalities were reported. The attacks affected 454 individuals in 75 households and displaced 208 individuals from the community of Yelwa to Erena camp and Kuta camp in Bangajiya ward. The affected included 293 children, 95 women and 66 men.

Since October 8 there has been an increase in cross-border incidents between Israel and Lebanon, resulting in the displacement of people both within the South and elsewhere within the country. Since October 10, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has been conducting the daily monitoring of population movements. The objective of the exercise is to inform preparedness and response planning.

On 31 March 2023, a fire outbreak was reported in Government Senior Science Secondary School (GSSSS) camp in Monguno Local Government Area (LGA), Borno state. The fire outbreak affected a total of 582 Individuals and destroyed 91 makeshift shelters. The affected individuals include 363 children, 102 women, and 117 men. The majority of those affected by the fire outbreak lost their personal belongings in the fire, including biometric cards and food ration cards. The fire outbreak was caused by the wind spreading cooking fires. No injuries or deaths were reported.

While the affected populations are working to rebuild their shelters, they presently live with their neighbours in the same camp.

 A fire brokeout in Kuya and NRC 1&2 camps in  Monguno Local Government Area (LGA), Borno state, on 11 and 13 February 2023, and displaced many internally displaced persons (IDPs). Most of the affected people lost their personal belongings to the fire, including biometric cards and food ration cards. No injuries or fatalities were reported, the cause of the fire was unknown.

The disaster affected 270 people living in 59 homes and damaged 45 emergency shelters. The affected people include 114 children, 81 women, and 75 men among those impacted.

A fire broke out in a Stadium camp in the Monguno Local Government Area (LGA), Borno state, on February 7, 2023, and it damaged and destroyed many internally displaced persons (IDPs). Many people had misplaced their personal belongings, including biometric identification cards and food ration cards. No injuries or fatalities were reported.

The disaster affected 1,056 people living in 239 homes and damaged 254 emergency shelters. Also, 12 toilets/latrines,1 water point and 3 fire stations were affected in the incident. There were 648 children, 211 women, and 197 men among those impacted.

The affected people included 157 children, 76 women, and 79 men. Most of the affected people lost their personal belongings to the fire, including biometric cards and food ration cards. No injuries or fatalities were reported, the cause of the fire was unknown. The fire victims were living with their neighbours in the same camp while working to rebuild their shelters.

A fire broke out in Shuwari and Fulatari camps in Dikwa Local Government Area (LGA), Borno state, on 20 February 2023, the fire outbreak affected 165 people living in 39 houses and damaged 34  shelters. The affected people included 57 children, 62 women and 46 men. Most of the affected people lost their personal belongings to the fire, including biometric cards and food ration cards. No injuries or fatalities were reported, the cause of the fire was unknown. The fire victims were living with their neighbours in the same camp while working to rebuild their shelters.

On 23 and 24 June 2023, heavy rainfall struck GGSS,  camp in Mafa LGA, and Doro camp in MMC of Borno State, affecting a total of 1,029 individuals from 190 households. The incidents damaged 149 shelters and 22 latrines.

In response to these events, the DTM (Displacement Tracking Matrix) field team swiftly conducted evaluations to inform the humanitarian community, the government, and partners and to facilitate a targeted response. The field team utilized direct observation and key informant interviews in flash reports to collect representative data and determine the quantity and immediate needs of the affected groups.

On 1st of May, windstorms struck the Transit Camp of the Pulka Bokko Ward in Gwoza LGA of Borno State. The windstorms affected a total of 504 individuals from 136 households. The windstorms also damaged six transit shelters, one communal shelter, and two brick/block latrines were damaged.

Following these events, DTM (Displacement Tracking Matrix) field staff conducted rapid assessments to inform the humanitarian community and Government/partners, and to enable a targeted response. Flash reports utilise direct observation and a broad network of key informants to gather representative data and collect information on the number, profile, and immediate needs of affected populations.
