In June 2017, there were approximately 3.4 million foreign nationals present in Turkish territory seeking international protection. Most of them were Syrians (3,069,963 individuals) who were granted temporary protection status. Of these 71% (2,824,562 individuals) were living in urban settings and 6% (245,401 individuals) were living in camps. In addition, there were 587,866 foreign nationals with residency permit status including those granted humanitarian residence status.
