This week there were 120 new arrivals and 299 exits at the Baidoa checkpoints. The number of arrivals reported this week was higher than last weeks’, but current figures remain low. The key driving factors for displacement into the IDP sites as usual were insecurity and lack of food, and while those leaving cited management of their farms. As for why IDPs were entering Baidoa this week, all the new entries cited either insecurity (47%), lack of food (34%) or rejoining with families (19%) as their reasons for displacement into Baidoa. The few reporting insecurity cited the reason to be escaping from AS, as they were caught with or burning charcoals in those areas which is prohibited by AS management. As reported in this week, (65%) of those entering came from the district of Qansaxdhere and (35%) from Baidoa district. They were heading to the IDP sites of Abal (57%), Eesaw (17%), Sarmaandhere (13%) and Qansaxdhere (13%). All exits left the IDP sites to return to their farms. (27%) of those exiting went to Bodaan, (24%) to Barhanoy, (16%) to Bakool Gab, (15%) to Ufurow, (11%) to Juurow, (4%) to Moorgabay and the remaining (3%) exited to Awal. (40%) of the exits were returning to Hudur district, (25%) returning to Baidoa district, (25%) were returning to Qansaxhdere district and (10%) were returning to Dinsoor district. All of the families said they intend to return to the IDP sites in the future.
