1,007 Undocumented Afghan individuals returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing whilst 512 individuals used the Chaman/Spin Boldak border crossing, bringing the total number of returns this week to 1,519 (301 families). The total number of Undocumented Afghans that returned spontaneously to Afghanistan since 1st January 2018 through Torkham and Chaman now stands at 12,977 (excluding deportations). 46% returnees were male whereas 54% were female. The top 5 destination provinces for returns are: Kabul (33%), Nangarhar (15%), Kandahar (13%) Kunduz (9%) and Kunar (6%). The largest proportion of returns is from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (48%), followed by Punjab (21%), Balochistan (17%), FATA (7%) and Sindh (6%). The primary reasons for returning were the wish to return home, economic factors, and the fear of being deported.
