Throughout July 2017, 595 in-coming individuals and 4,066 out-going individuals were recorded at Mali flow monitoring points (FMPs). Based on the observation of 6 FMPs, it was noticed that the vast majority of recorded migrants at FMPs were young men. Among the migrants, several persons under the age of 18 were identified. Some travel accompanied by adult legal guardians while others travelled alone (unaccompanied and separated children). 90% of identified migrants at the flow monitoring points were citizens of the following five countries: Guinea, Mali, Gambia, Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire. The majority of the migrants surveyed indicated their intention to travel to Algeria and Libya while 38% said they wanted to go to Europe, mainly Spain and Italy.
