The Quarterly report on the migration situation in Kazakhstan for the second quarter of 2023 reveals several key trends. During this period, a significant number of visas were issued to nationals from China and Türkiye, indicating their predominance among foreign visa recipients in Kazakhstan. Migrant workers in Kazakhstan are predominantly from Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation, along with other Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) nations. Among non-CIS countries, Chinese citizens are the most numerous in the migration flows for this quarter. This trend is likely to persist throughout 2023, particularly following the agreement between Kazakhstan and China regarding the exemption of visa requirements. Additionally, there has been a noticeable decrease in the volume of remittance inflows and outflows in April-June 2023 when compared to the same quarter in 2022. Despite this overall decline, the Russian Federation remains the primary source of remittances sent to Kazakhstan, continuing its leading role from the previous year.
