The Border Monitoring Network focuses on the identification and profiling of persons crossing the Dominican-Haiti border as well as supporting the management and provision of assistance to vulnerable individuals. During the reporting period 2,341 individuals were observed crossing into Haiti. This is below the average of 1,882 per week. A total of 2,924 individuals were officially deported in that same period.. This constitutes a 56% decrease compared to the previous reporting period. This decrease can be attributed to the passage of Hurricanes Irma and Maria, which has greatly affected the Northern part of the Dominican Republic.
