Since mid-April 2023, at least 427 people have been killed and over 3,700 injured due violent clashes between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). It is estimated that up to 20 000 civilians have fled from Sudan into Eastern Chad, among them Sudanese refugees, but also Chadians and nationals from other countries. IOM is supporting joint registration efforts with the National Commission on Refugees (CNARR) and the UNHCR to identify Chadian returnees as well as international migrants requiring international protection
