IOM profiled 840 individuals (224 households) among whom were 223 children under the age of five years in seven villages in its surroundings and 16 neighbourhoods within Ndélé. 44% of the displaced population were returnees from Chad whilst 14% came from Bria and Bambari. Most population movements can be traced back to November and December 2017. This is due to the events that took place in Kaga-Bandoro in October and those taking place in Bambari in December. 62% of displaced individuals cited fear of retaliation as the main reason for having fled. A further 29% quoted difficult living conditions. 5% fled after the arrival of the guerrilla group, Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and 3% fled fighting between ex-Séléka militias and Fula people.
