This displacement report covers the 15 provinces of Burundi. The DTM identified 214,895 internally displaced persons (IDPs) and 46,137 households in the provinces of Rutana, Makamba, Ruyigi, Muyinga, Kirundo, Cibitoke, Rumonge, Bubanza, Gitega, Cankuzo, Muramvya, Bururi, Bujumbura Rural, Mwaro and Kayanza. In terms of reasons for displacement, 66.5% cited natural disasters, 33.1% socio-political situations, while 0.4% cited other reasons. The system is based on two types of systematic assessments: assssments of the displacement trends in the communes and assessments in the main displcement areas (collines). The assesments are undertaken on a monthly basis.
