Enabling a better understanding of migration flows (and its root-causes) from Somalia towards Europe
This report presents the main findings extrapolated from the analysis of data relating to the characteristics and experiences of Somali migrants before, in, on their way to, or upon return from Europe. The data was collected within the framework of IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM).
Uganda — Flow Monitoring Dashboard: Uganda/South Sudan Border (1-30 April 2019)
Over the reporting period, a total of 31,089 individual movements were observed at six (6) Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) at the Ugandan (UGA) border with South Sudan (SSD). 71 per cent of population movements reported the duration of stay within a day to a week in the intended destination.
Malawi — Tropical Cyclone Idai Site Profiles, Multi-Sectoral Location Assessments (3 May 2019)
Since the beginning of March 2019, Malawi experienced floods and sustained heavy rains caused by the tropical cyclone Idai weather system.
Mozambique — Return Intention Survey (30 April 2019)
On the 30th of April 2019, IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) teams conducted a rapid intention survey in nine displacement sites located in Beira and Nhamatanda districts, in coordination with the Mozambique’s National Institute for Disaster Management (INGC).
Mozambique — Tropical Cyclone Idai - Multi-Sectoral Location Assessments - Site Profiles, Dondo, Nhamatanda, And Sussundenga Districts (09 May 2019)
From 03 to 04 May 2019 IOM, in close coordination with the Government of Mozambique agency Instituto Nacional de Gestão de Calamidades, conducted multi-sectoral location assessments in 10 resettlement sites in Dondo, Nhamatanda, and Sussundenga districts.

Zimbabwe — Tropical Cyclone Idai - Baseline Assessment - Round 3 (30 April 2019)
From the 23rd to the 27th of April 2019 IOM, in close coordination with the Government of Zimbabwe conducted baseline assessments in Nyanga, Mutasa, Makoni, Mutare Urban, Chiredzi Rural and Urban districts.
Mozambique — Tropical Cyclone Idai - Multi-Sectoral Location Assessments - Round 3 - Site Profiles, Beira, Buzi, Dondo, Nhamatanda, and Sussundenga districts (30 April 2019)
From 24 to 26 April 2019 IOM, in close coordination with the Government of Mozambique agency Instituto Nacional de Gestão de Calamidades, conducted multi-sectoral location assessments in 34 displacement sites in Beira, Buzi, Dondo, Nhamatanda, and Sussundenga districts.
Burundi — Flow Monitoring Report (February 2019)
From 1 to 28 February 2019, 36,091 movements were registered at 8 flow monitoring points, namely Mbundi and Rusumo (Muyinga province), Mukambati and Ntibitobangwa (Cankuzo province), Mungano and Kabuyenge (Ruyigi province), Kwa Elidadi and Kwa Ntunaguzi (Rutana province).

Le mois de mars a connu une augmentation de 43% du nombre de personnes observées par rapport au mois précédent, mais représente seulement 44% du nombre d'individus observés en mars 2018 (24,658).

South Sudan — Ebola Preparedness Flow Monitoring Dashboard (March 2019)
As part of IOM’s Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) preparedness activities, DTM operates seven Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) in Yambio, Yei and Morobo counties and six in cooperation with DTM Uganda on the Ugandan side of the border.

IOM’s biometric registration system is active since 2014, with over 700,000 beneficiaries active in its database to date.

During March 2019, DTM has identified 124,578 internally displaced persons. The main causes for the displacements have been: 75% natural disasters, 25% the socio-political situation.

DTM’s Flow Monitoring Registry (FMR) surveys people on the move at key transit points within South Sudan (SSD) and at its borders.
Uganda — Flow Monitoring Dashboard: Uganda/DRC Border (1-30 March 2019)
Over the reporting period, a total of 97,600 movements were observed at eight (8) Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs) at the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The incoming population into Uganda continued to be higher (65%) than outgoing to DRC (35%).
