Ethiopia — National Displacement Dashboard (January — February 2018)

The majority of the recorded population were displaced during 2017, with 621 reportedly opening that year (DTM Rounds 3-8). Conflict was reported as the primary driver of displacement (1,217,793 IDPs), followed by climate-induced factors (494,256 IDPs).

Ethiopia — Displacement Report 8, Afar Region (November — December 2017)

52,933 displaced individuals comprising 8,828 households in 54 displacement sites were identified in Afar region. These figures represent a decrease of 2,152 in the total individuals (4%) and households (14%) since round 7 (September/October). The number of sites remained the same.

Ethiopia — National Displacement Dashboard 8 (November — December 2017)

The DTM data collection was conducted in collaboration with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) between November 3rd and December 8th 2017. The majority of the recorded population were displaced in 2017, with 553 sites reportedly opened that year.

Somalia — Displacement Situation Report Somaliland (November 2017)

Over the past few years, Somaliland districts have become host to households and individuals that have been displaced as a result of conflict, insecurity or drought from all over Somaliland.

Somalia — Displacement Situation Report Gedo (September — October 2017)

As of October 2017 DTM estimates 168,000 IDPs in Gedo district, living in 310 IDP sites, the majority of IDPs considered as integrated within the host community.

Somalia — Displacement Situation Report Modagishu, Banadir Region (October 2017)

Mogadishu hosts the largest estimated protracted internally displaced population in Somalia, mainly living in informal IDP sites across the city. DTM’s October 2017 data collection focusing on the greater Mogadishu area identified a total of 545,000 individuals in over 840 IDP sites.

Somalia — Displacement Situation Report Afgooye District (October 2017)

After the outbreak of the civil war in 1991, parts of Afgooye town became a place of refuge for many of SouthernSomalia’s internally displaced people. The region has become home for many displaced persons from Lower Shabelle, with some also arriving from Bay and Hiraan.

Somalia — Displacement Situation Report Wanla Weyn (October 2017)

Drought and insecurity has caused many in Lower Shabelle region to flee their rural homes into more urban areas. Wanla Weyn town, as the center of Wanla Weyn district is host to over 20,000 displaced individuals, many living on the outer periphery of the town.

Somalia — Displacement Situation Report Garowe District, Nugaal Region (June 2017)

Displacement is in Nugaal is centred in the main towns of Garowe and Burtinle. A majority of the IDPs originate from southern and central Somalia mostly displaced due to drought. These IDPs are often at risk of fire outbreaks and flooding, especially those living along the river bank of Garowe.

Somalia — Displacement Situation Report Somalia (June 2017)

This displacement situation report depicts the displacement in 26 districts throughout Somalia. It is estimated that the total IDP population stands at 1.4 million people and that there are 1,549 IDP locations.

South Sudan — Population count: Benitu PoC (13–15 May 2017)

Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have been sheltering at the Bentiu protection of civilian site (PoC) since December 2013. There are currently 119,139 IDPs seeking protection in the site.

Burundi — Displacement Dashboard 7 (April 2017)

DTM recorded 209,202 IDPs comprising 44,578 households during the period covered.

South Sudan — Upper Nile State Rapid Assessment Report (30 April – 6 May 2017)

In Upper Nile State, DTM conducts MTT in two transit areas, Abrouc and Renk, and five sites: Malakal Protection of Civilian (PoC) site, Melut PoC, Dethoma 1 and 2 spontaneous settlements and Khoradar collective center. The movement of IDPs between Abruoc and Magenis is believed to be ongoing.

South Sudan — Wau Town Population Update ( 25–27 April 2017)

DTM recorded a 46% increase in the population at Wau Town as a result of the recent conflict. 82% of the Wau Town IDP population are women and children.

Burundi — Displacement Report 9 (March 2017)

By March 2017 DTM identified 149,028 IDPs in 31,504 households across 11 provinces in Burundi. 56% of the displaced population was found to be living with host families.

South Sudan — Wau Town Displacement Response Update (4 May 2017)

Relief agencies continue to provide assistance to new arrivals at existing displacement sites since population influxes following the outbreak of violence on April 10.

South Sudan — Wau Town Displacement Response Update (25 April 2017)

An outbreak of violence on 10 April in Wau town has displaced an estimated 22,000-25,000 people from their homes.

South Sudan — Intentions and Needs Survey – Abrouc and Fashoda 2 (28 March – 4 April 2017)

The DTM team conducted a follow up survey in Abrouc from 28 March to 4 April 2017 to provide more in depth understanding of the intentions of internally displaced persons (IDPs) as well as their sectorial needs. The survey tool included inputs from partners.

Somalia — Displacement Dashboard 2 (July 2016)

In Round 2 DTM Somalia assessed 119 sites. Of these sites 116 were collective sites and 3 were camps. The total number of individual IDPs across these sites and during this period was 149,819. Of these, 63 per cent were below the age of 17 and 31 per cent were between 18-59 years old.
