Between 25 - 28 April 2024, armed bandits attacked the communities of Gidan Sale in Isa South ward, Shalla Village in Turba ward and Katanga, Dan Adama, Baichi, Kunkurus and Satiru Village in Tozai ward of Isa Local Governement Area (LGA) in Sokoto State and the community of Kayaye Tungan Kado in Badarawa ward of Shinkafi LGA in Zamfara State. There were reports of 51 injuries and 19 fatalities. The attacks displaced 3,220 individuals in 626 households. Among the 3,220 individuals affected, 675 individuals were displaced from Shalla Village in Turba ward to Kubliya Islamiya School in Isa North ward, 748 individuals were displaced from Katanga, Dan Adama and Baichi in Tozai ward to Sarkin Gobir Primary School in Isa North ward, 925 individuals were displaced from Kunkurus and Satiru in Tozai ward to Women Centre in Isa North ward, 346 individuals were displaced from Gidan Saleh in Isa South ward of Isa LGA of Sokoto State to Gidan Gona IDP camp in Shinkafi South ward of Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara State and 526 individuals were displaced from Kayaye Tungan Kado in Badarawa ward of Shinkafi LGA to Gidan Gona IDP camp in Shinkafi South ward. The displaced individuals included 1,803 children, 882 women and 531 men. 

En el mes de febrero de 2024 continuó con la extensión del Estado de Emergencia, en cinco regiones del Perú, todas ellas fronterizas con Ecuador y Colombia, entre ellas una de las fronteras de monitoreo, Tumbes, específicamente la provincia de Zarumilla, con una prórroga de 60 días, con la finalidad de combatir el crimen organizado y reforzar el control de las fronteras. En dicha región, la OIM firmó un acuerdo de cooperación con el gobierno regional de Tumbes, para brindar apoyo a la población migrante que reside en dicha región, principalmente en áreas de protección, integración, acceso a salud y educación. Por su parte, en las regiones de Tacna y Desaguadero continúa el control fronterizo, así como controles en terminales de buses, a través de la revisión de los documentos de identidad de las personas en tránsito.

Between 17 April to 1st May 2024, sporadic attacks and fear of attacks by Non-state Armed Groups in Ancuabe, Chiúre and Erati triggered the cumulative displacement of 52,300 individuals/12,575 families. Since October 8 there has been an increase in cross-border incidents between Israel and Lebanon, resulting in the displacement of people both within the South and elsewhere within the country. Since October 10, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) has been conducting the daily monitoring of population movements. The objective of the exercise is to inform preparedness and response planning.

To assess drought-induced mobility and identify the most urgent sectoral needs experienced by the community, the IOM
Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Mobility Tracking and Multi-Sectoral Location Assessment (MSLA) baseline assessment
was deployed in 2022 in Turkana County. A second round of data collection for mobility tracking took place between May
and June 2023, presented here. Key findings from this assessment included: 

• Between November 2022 and May 2023, the reported primary driver of displacement shifted from drought to
forced displacement due to resource -based conflict and ethnic clashes.
• Almost all arrival households (96% or 15,024 households) arrived at sub-locations in May 2023 that already
struggled with the severe effects of drought, resource-based conflict, and ethnic clashes.
• 78 per cent of returnees temporarily resided in Turkana in a location outside their immediate area of
origin, suggesting prevalent internal migration within the county.
• 19,515 child-headed households were identified. Of these, 1,622 (8%) had no relatives or community members
living near them and were separated from their legal or customary guardians.
• 6,216 children were without permanent sources of support.
• Almost half (48%) of the assessed sub-locations that reported loss of livestock reported child labour (whether
within or outside the ward) as a coping strategy, while around one quarter (24%) of sub-locations reported early
marriage of boys and girls as a key coping strategy.

Le rapport DTM indique qu'entre le 22 et le 28 avril 2024, au Burundi, 44 202 personnes ont été affectées et 3 455 déplacées suite à des pluies torrentielles, des glissements de terrain, et des inondations nécessitant une réponse immédiate de la communauté humanitaire. Parmi les affectés, 23 043 sont des femmes et 21 159 sont des hommes.

La répartition par type d'urgence montre que les inondations ont affecté 24 891 personnes et en ont déplacé 2 539, les pluies torrentielles ont affecté 19 033 personnes et en ont déplacé 804, et les glissements de terrain ont affecté 278 personnes et en ont déplacé 112. Les groupes vulnérables comprennent 40 femmes enceintes ou allaitantes, 10 hommes seuls chefs de ménage, 9 femmes seuls chefs de ménage, 7 personnes avec une maladie chronique, et 7 personnes âgées vivant seules. Les dommages incluent de nombreuses habitations ainsi que des infrastructures telles que des écoles, des églises et des bâtiments administratifs. Cette situation met en lumière la nécessité d'une aide humanitaire continue et ciblée dans la région.

In Haiti, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) collects data on forced displacement and migration flows, as well as information on the profiles and needs of mobile populations. In the framework of these activities, DTM produces a number of information products (including reports, dashboards, maps and datasets) compiling and analyzing the data gathered, in order to inform partners’ responses and strategies. A feedback survey on the use of DTM Haiti’s information products was conducted from 23 February to 17 March 2024, with the goal of improving these products. This dashboard summarizes the main results of the survey, which includes the input of 65 partners.

In 2023, DTM Haiti published 73 information products on its portal (dtm.iom.int/haiti). They were downloaded more than 55,000 times. 95% of partners indicated that they were familiar with DTM Haiti’s work, and of those, 97% used DTM Haiti information products for their work. 

Results of the survey show that the most widely read products were the dashboards on displacement situation (read at least once in 2023 by 92% of surveyed partners), the Emergency Tracking Tool (ETT) dashboards (86%) and the report on profiles and multisectoral needs of populations affected by displacement (65%).

These 3 products were also mentioned by respondents as the most relevant to their work : dashboards on displacement situation (78%), ETT dashboards (75%) and the report on profiles and multi-sectoral needs of populations affected by displacement (52%). Respondents were reportedly most satisfied with the dashboards displacement situation (87% are satisfied with this product) and ETT dashboards (79%).
