About Mali
In 2012, the armed rebellion in the North as well as the coup constituted the main factors that plunged Mali in a state of socio-political instability and insecurity. This unstable situation has had consequences, both within and beyond the country’s borders. It has had an impact on neighbouring countries, namely Niger, Burkina Faso and Mauritania, through the displacement of almost half a million individuals.
More than seven years after the conflict, the internal displacement context in Mali remains complex and fluid. The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) was launched in 2012 by IOM Mali to collect and provide reliable information on population movements and their needs to the humanitarian community, to ultimately enable partners to better assist displaced populations. In 2014, DTM was transferred to the government through the DNDS (Direction Nationale du Développement Social). IOM keeps funding and supervising DTM’s various activities in the field with the DNDS.
DTM’s activities in Mali are funded by EUTF, AVUMED, PBF, COMPASS, USAID, Sweden, and the Peace Building Fund (PBF).

A la date du 25 juillet 2013, les partenaires de la CMP ont comptabilisé 342,033 individus (47,101 ménages).
A la date du 20 juin 2013, les partenaires de la CMP ont comptabilisé 353 455 individus (49 108 ménages).

DTM Global Survey 2023
The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Global Survey 2023 is an annual stocktaking exercise which aims to present IOM DTM's operations and activities transparently. The Global Survey focuses on operations active from January 1 to December 31, 2023, with data collection occurring from February to April 2024.
