East and Horn of Africa — Monthly Regional Update (December 2018)

The DTM Monthly Regional Update contains consolidated summary updates and highlights from DTM field operations. This document covers updates from the regional network of flow monitoring of migrants, as well as the tracking and monitoring of internal displacement in the countries.

Uganda — Flow Monitoring Dashboard: Uganda/DRC Border (16-31 January 2019)

Over the reporting period a total of 18,391 movements were observed at six (6) flow monitoring points at the border with the Democractic Republic of Congo (DRC). Inflows into Uganda were slightly higher (56%) than outflows to DRC (44%).

Somalia — Border Point Flow Monitoring (January 2019)

In January 2019, a total of 23,396 movements were observed at Flow Monitoring Points. This represents a slight decrease in comparison with December 2018 when 25,884 movements were observed.

Burundi — Flow Monitoring Report (November 2018)

From 1 to 30 November 2018, 43,333 movements were recorded at 8 flow monitoring points, namely Mbundi and Rusumo (Muyinga province), Mukambati and Ntibitobangwa (Cankuzo province), Mungano and Kabuyenge (Ruyigi province) and Kwa Elidadi and Kwa Ntunaguzi (Rutana province).

South Sudan — Displacement Site Flow Monitoring (December 2018)

DTM interviewed 2,127 households representing 4,234 travelling individuals crossing into and out of Bentiu Protection of Civilians site (PoC) site, Malakal PoC site and Wau PoC Adjacent Area (AA) site during the reporting period.

South Sudan — Wau PoC AA Displacement Site Flow Monitoring (September — November 2018)

DTM interviewed 1,473 households representing 4,315 individuals (62% women and girls) entering or exiting Wau Protection of Civilians site Adjacent Area (PoC AA site) between 1 September and 30 November 2018.

Burundi — Rapport De Suivi Des Mouvements Transfrontaliers (Novembre 2018)

Du 1 au 30 Novembre 2018, 43.333 mouvements ont été enregistrés sur 8 points de traversée à savoir Mbundi et Rusumo (province Muyinga), Mukambati et Ntibitobangwa (province Cankuzo), Mungano et Kabuyenge (province Ruyigi), Kwa Elidadi et Kwa Ntunaguzi (province Rutana).

Burundi — Suivi des urgences (27 janvier —2 février 2019)

Ce document donne des informations sur les urgences au Burundi pour la semaine du 27 janvier au 2 février 2019. La DTM a identifié 331 personnes affectées dont 182 personnes déplacées par des pluies torrentielles et par du vent violent. 

South Sudan — Malakal PoC Displacement Site Flow Monitoring (September — November 2018)

DTM keeps track of movement into and out of Malakal Protection of Civilian (PoC) site. DTM interviewed 3,519 households representing 3,898 individuals from September to November 2018.

Ce document donne des informations sur les urgences au Burundi pour la semaine du 3 au 9 février 2019. La DTM a identifié 221 personnes affectées dont 59 personnes déplacées par des pluies torrentielles. 

South Sudan — Event Tracking: Influx from Gambella (11-17 Jan 2019)

An influx of South Sudanese nationals from Ethiopian refugee camps in Gambella to Upper Nile State, has been the result of communal clashes involving transnational ethnic groups constituted of both host community and South Sudanese refugees.

Djibouti — Rapport sur les Points de suivi des flux (Décembre 2018)

Le nombre d'individus observés aux FMPs a augmenté de 18% entre le mois de novembre et de décembre 2018, passant de 18 637 individus à 22 048.

Ce document donne des informations sur les urgences au Burundi pour la semaine du 20 au 26 Janvier 2019. La DTM a identifié 346 personnes affectées dont 143 personnes déplacées par de vent violent. 

Uganda — Flow Monitoring Dashboard: Uganda/DRC Border (1-15 January 2019)

IOM Uganda monitors migration flows along the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) through six strategically located flow monitoring points (FMP).

Somalia — Border Point Flow Monitoring (December 2018)

In December, a total of 25,884 movements were observed at Flow Monitoring Points. This represents a slight decrease in comparison with November when 28,138 movements were observed.

South Sudan — Perceptions Survey, Bentiu & Rubkona (September 2018)

88% of household indicated that they are separated from family members, with schooling being the most cited reason.88% reported nuclear family living outside the PoC, and of those residing in displacement sites 60% were in Bentiu PoC and 29% in UN House PoC 3.

South Sudan — Mobility Tracking Round 3: Lakes Focus

Through Mobility Tracking, DTM is able to provide a comprehensive baseline and regular updates on the trends and changes in numbers, locations and priority needs of IDPs and returnees in South Sudan. IOM DTM conducted its third round of data collection between July and August 2018.

South Sudan — Bentiu PoC Headcount Trends (2018)

The Bentiu Protection of Civilian (PoC) site was established in December 2013. As of December 2018, 161,071 beneficiaries remained registered in the site.

South Sudan — Wau PoC and collective centres headcount trends (2018)

Wau Town features two PoC sites and five collective centres in which IOM-DTM conducts monthly headcounts to monitor changing population dynamics and displacement trends. These include: Wau PoC 1 and Wau PoC AA sites, as well as Cathedral, Nazareth, St.

Through Mobility Tracking, DTM is able to provide a comprehensive baseline and regular updates on the trends and changes in numbers, locations and priority needs of IDPs and returnees in South Sudan. IOM DTM conducted its third round of data collection between July and August 2018.

South Sudan — Biometric registration update: Juba PoC sites (October 2018)

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) team in South Sudan began the exercise in early September with a two-day Temporary Registration (T-REG), which enabled the organization to quickly determine, which persons are currently resident in the site.

Burundi — Baseline Dashboard 24 (December 2018)

The DTM Burundi dashboard for the month of October 2018 covers all 18 provinces of Burundi.
