Nigeria's north-central and north-west zones are afflicted with a multidimensional crisis that is rooted in long-standing tensions between ethnic and religious groups and involves attacks by criminal groups and banditry/hirabah (such as kidnapping and grand larceny along major highways). The crisis has accelerated during the past years because of the intensification of attacks and has resulted in widespread displacement across the region.

The Return Intention Survey in Teachers Village Camp was conducted at a household level between 1 and 3 December 2021.

The Return Intention Survey in Stadium Camp was conducted at a household level between 1 and 3 December 2021.

The Return Intention Survey was conducted at a household level between 1 December and 2 December 2021 in Muna Elbadawy Camp, located in Dusuman ward, Jere LGA in Borno State.

The Return Intention Survey was conducted at a household level between 20 November and 23 November 2021 in Bakassi Camp, located in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (M.M.C.) LGA in Borno State.

The Return Intention Survey in 250 Housing Estate Camp (Dalori II) was conducted at a household level between 1 December and 2 December 2021.

The Return Intention Survey in 400 Housing Estate Gubio Camp was conducted at a household level between 1 and 2 December 2021.

The Return Intention Survey in Federal Training Centre Camp (Dalori I) was conducted at a household level between 1 and 2 December 2021.

The Return Intention Survey (RIS) was conducted at a household level between 1 December and 3 December 2021 in six camps located in and around Maiduguri in Borno State. The objective of the RIS is to provide accurate and reliable information on the intentions of the IDPs ahead of the planned closure of the camps and the Government return programmes.

IOM Yemen DTM’s Rapid Displacement Tracking (RDT) tool collects data on numbers of households forced to flee on a daily basis from their locations of origin or displacement, allowing for regular reporting of new displacements in terms of numbers, geography, and needs. It also tracks Returnees who returned to their location of origin.

 

From 01 January 2021 to 25 December 2021, IOM Yemen DTM estimates that 25,591 households (HH) (153,546 Individuals) have experienced displacement at least once.

                                                                                              

Since the beginning of 2021, DTM also identified 4,440 displaced households who left their locations of displacement and either moved back to their place of origin or another location.

                                                                                              

Between 19 and 25 December 2021, IOM Yemen DTM tracked 1,164 households (6,984 individuals) displaced at least once. The top three governorates and districts where people moved into/within are:

                                                                                              

• Al Jawf (600 HH) – Khab wa Ash Shaf (600 HH) district. All displacements in the governorate were internal.
• Marib (362 HH) – Marib City (218 HH), Marib (144 HH) districts. Most displacements in the governorate were internal.
• Al Hodeidah (83 HH) – Al Khukhah (83 HH) district. Most displacements in the governorate originated from Taiz and Al Hodeidah.

 

Most displacements resulted from the increased conflict in the following governorates and districts.

• Al Jawf (640 HH) – Barat Al Anan (628 HH), Khab wa Ash Shaf (7 HH), Rajuzah (5 HH) districts.
• Marib (315 HH) – Marib (147 HH), Marib City (125 HH), Al Jubah (28 HH) districts.
• Taiz  (87 HH) – Maqbanah (44 HH), Al Makha (41 HH), Sabir Al Mawadim (1 HH) districts.
