On 02 January, armed bandits reportedly attacked the communities Ruwan Bore in Mada ward of Gusau LGA and Yandoton in Yandoto Daji ward of Tsafe LGA, both in Zamfara State. The attack affected 1,151 individuals and displaced 1,140 individuals to the communities Kotorkoshi in Kotorkoshi ward of Bungudu LGA and Damba in Tudun Wada ward of Gusau LGA. As a result of the attacks, 11 fatalities and 12 injuries were reported.
On 04 and 05 January, clashes between herders and farmers were reported in the communities Tachia in Ityuluv ward of Ukum LGA and Nagi in Mbachohon ward of Gwer West LGA, both in Benue State. The clashes affected 646 individuals and displaced 542 individuals to the community Zaki Biam in Uyam ward of Ukum LGA and 100 individuals to Naka IDP camp in Ikaygev
ward of Gwer West LGA. As a result of the clashes, 4 fatalities and 34 injuries were reported.

The new arrivals were recorded at locations in Askira/Uba, Bama, Damboa, Dikwa, Gwoza, Hawul, Monguno, Ngala, Kaga and Kala Balge* Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the most conflict-affected state of Borno and in Gombi, Hong, Lamurde, Michika, Mubi South, Song, Yola South and Yola North LGAs of Adamawa State.

According to the latest available figures from the Turkish Presidency of Migration Management (PMM), there are more than 5.2* million foreign nationals present in Turkish territory, 3.9* million of whom are seeking international protection. Most are Syrians (3,535,898* individuals) who are granted temporary protection status. In addition, international protection applicants from
countries including Afghanistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iraq constitute another group of foreign nationals. According to PMM, there were 29,256* international protection applicants present in Türkiye in 20211, published annually. Moreover, according to UNHCR**, there were 318,903 refugees and asylum-seekers in Türkiye as of mid of 2022. Since September 2022 the number of Syrians residing in camps has decreased by 481.
A total of 8.19 million crossings from Ukraine to Poland were recorded at border crossing points (BCPs) since 24 February 2022 according to Polish Border Guard data from 13 December. IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) conducted surveys with Ukrainian nationals before they crossed back to Ukraine from three border crossing points in Poland. This report provides an overview of key trends based on the 8,664 surveys that were conducted between 12 April and 31 December 2022 to assess the profiles, needs and intentions of refugees from Ukraine crossing from Poland back into Ukraine. Individuals crossing into Ukraine are not necessarily returnees and conclusions on definitive trends cannot be drawn. The sample is not representative of all persons crossing into Ukraine, results should hence only be considered as indicative.
