IOM Yemen DTM’s Rapid Displacement Tracking (RDT) tool collects data on numbers of households forced to flee on a daily basis from their locations of origin or displacement, allowing for regular reporting of new displacements in terms of numbers, geography, and needs. It also tracks Returnees who returned to their location of origin.

From 01 January 2021 to 25 December 2021, IOM Yemen DTM estimates that 25,591 households (HH) (153,546 Individuals) have experienced displacement at least once.

Since the beginning of 2021, DTM also identified 4,440 displaced households who left their locations of displacement and either moved back to their place of origin or another location.

Between 19 and 25 December 2021, IOM Yemen DTM tracked 1,164 households (6,984 individuals) displaced at least once. The top three governorates and districts where people moved into/within are:

  • Al Jawf (600 HH) – Khab wa Ash Shaf (600 HH) district. All displacements in the governorate were internal.
  • Marib (362 HH) – Marib City (218 HH), Marib (144 HH) districts. Most displacements in the governorate were internal.
  • Al Hodeidah (83 HH) – Al Khukhah (83 HH) district. Most displacements in the governorate originated from Taiz and Al Hodeidah.

Most displacements resulted from the increased conflict in the following governorates and districts.

  • Al Jawf (640 HH) – Barat Al Anan (628 HH), Khab wa Ash Shaf (7 HH), Rajuzah (5 HH) districts.
  • Marib (315 HH) – Marib (147 HH), Marib City (125 HH), Al Jubah (28 HH) districts.

In response to the need for accurate and up-to-date information on human mobility and forced displacement in north-east Nigeria, IOM activated its Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) to support the Government and the humanitarian community with
multi-layered data on the numbers, trends, status, locations and needs of populations affected by the on-going conflict in north-east Nigeria. Round 39 of assessment was conducted from 30 August to 15 October 2021.

This dashboard presents the LGAs with the largest changes in IDP number (both increases and decreases) identified during Round 39, as well as factors behind these changes. During Round 39, the LGAs which witnessed the largest increases in IDP numbers were Bama (increase of 16,205 IDPs) and Mobbar (increase of 8,193 IDPs), while the LGAs which witnessed the largest decreases were Monguno (decrease of 5,273 IDPs) and Jere (decrease of 4,969 IDPs).

In November 2021, a total of 16,619 movements were observed across five of Ethiopia's flow monitoring points (FMPs). It should be noted that data collection at Humera FMP in Tigray region did not take place due to security and access constraints, thus affecting the total number of movements for the month. This represents a 20.7% increase in daily average movements in comparison with October 2021 when an average of 459 movements per day were observed.

Following the increase in movements this month, outgoing movements during November have continued to be higher than ever (86.8%) than incoming movements (13.2%). A total of 14,431 outgoing movements were observed of which 6,099 (42.3%) were heading towards Saudi Arabia, 2,272 (15.7%) were going to Kenya, 2,238 (15.5%) were travelling towards Djibouti, 945 (6.5%) to South Africa, 501 (3.5%) intended to reach the United Arab Emirates, and 350 (2.4%) headed to Qatar.

In order to better understand migratory movements and trends in West and Central Africa, IOM, through the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), implements the activity of monitoring flows of populations (Flow Monitoring, FM). In Niger, the DTM collects data at 7 Flow Monitoring Points (FMPs), in order to identify areas with high cross-border and intra-regional mobility and collect data on mobility trends and profiles. and journey of travellers in the country. This report presents the data obtasined through the flow recording activities in November 2021, at the level of the seven FMPs installed in Niger.
