À propos Somalia
With reoccurring floods and droughts, as well as ongoing evictions in urban areas, the estimated displaced population in Somalia stands at 2.65 million as of 31 July 2018 (UNHCR). Among them are 60,000 individuals recently displaced by seasonal flooding exacerbated by the El Nino phenomenon since October 2015 and military offence between Alshabab and AMISOM. IOM Somalia aims to improve information management in fluid displacement situations, thereby enhancing evidence-based and timely prioritization in the delivery of humanitarian assistance in riverine areas along the Juba and Shabelle Rivers in Somalia.
DTM in Somalia conducted tracking mechanism across 5 regions Juba Hoose, Shebelle Dhexe, Hiraan, Awdal and Gedo) in 7 districts (Afmadow, Balcad, Belet Weyne, Borama, Doolow, Jowhar and Kismayo). The data collected is shared with OCHA, Somali Disaster Management Agency of the Federal Government of Somalia, and other humanitarian partners for feedback and consultations before finalization and dissemination. The main targeted population are IDP's in informal and formal settlements, IDP's in host communities, returnees from internal displacement as well as returnees from abroad.
