As a key provider of data on internal displacement and migration, capturing data on the human mobility impacts of climate shocks is central to DTM.  Many of DTM’s more than 80 active data collection operations capture data on climate as a driver of human mobility. Datasets and reports available through this platform present this data where it is available.

DTM is working to advance data collection and analysis methods to provide actors with data that enables them to better anticipate, understand and address climate-related human mobility. In 2020, DTM released an analytical framework and field guide in collaboration with the IOM Migration, Environment and Climate Change (MECC) division to consolidate data collection practices in contexts of environmental and climate change. This is a continuously growing area of work and remains a priority for IOM and DTM.
