As per January 2023 population count findings, the Bentiu Town Sites (A, B, C, D, and E) population stands at 63,022 individuals / 9,089 households (on average 6 individuals per household). This represents one per cent decrease (5,563 individuals/237 households) compared to October 2022.

During the reporting period, drought was reported in the Teso subregion mainly in Katakwi, Amuria and Kapelabyong districts. Fires were experienced in Amuria, Wakiso and Ntungamo while hailstorms were reported in Tororo.

There are 315,976 individuals currently displaced by drought in Gedo region.
The Horn of Africa and Yemen is one of the busiest and riskiest migration corridors in the world travelled by hundreds of thousands of migrants, the majority of whom travel in an irregular manner, often relying on smugglers to facilitate movement along the Eastern Route.
A quantitative and qualitative survey was carried out within four counties in Central Equatoria State: Kajo-Keji, Lainya, Morobo and Yei. These counties were targeted for Reconciliation, Stabilization and Resilience area-based programming.

On the 23rd of November 2021, the Federal Government of Somalia declared a state of emergency due to drought. Three failed consecutive rainy seasons have resulted in 90% of the country experiencing severe drought conditions.

In January 2023, the monthly population count was conducted at Masna Collective Centre where 2,909 individuals/ 598 households were identified and Naivasha IDP Camp where 6,713 individuals/ 1,726 households were counted.
As per January 2023 population count findings, the Bentiu IDP camp population stands at 100,356 individuals (16,821 households) in 11,988 inhabited shelters (on average of 8 individuals per shelter). This represents a two per cent decrease compared to October 2022.
A total of 30,220 movements were observed in December 2022, representing a 27% increase compared to 2021 when 27,779 movements were observed during the same period.
