Ethiopia — National Displacement Dashboard 15 (January - February 2019)

The majority of the recorded population were displaced before 2018, with 904 sites which reportedly opened in 2016/17 (DTM Rounds 1 - 8). Conflict was reported as the primary driver of displacement (1,663,396 IDPs), followed by displacement due to climate induced factors (508,723 IDPs).

Mozambique — Tropical Cyclone Idai Situation Report 1 (25 March 2019)

As of 25 March 2019, according to Mozambique’s National Institute of Disaster Management (INGC), 128,941 individuals (26,425 families) have been displaced and taken shelter in evacuation centres in the four provinces of Sofala (103), Zambezia (10), Tete (4) and Manica (26).

Zimbabwe — Tropical Cyclone Idai Situation Report 1 (22 March 2019)

Tropical Cyclone Idai hit eastern Zimbabwe on 15 March 2019. As of 21 March 2019, according to Zimbabwe’s Ministry for Information, Publicity and Broadcasting, the death toll has reached 139 individuals and 189 individuals are still missing in the wake of the flooding caused by the storm.

South Sudan — Event Tracking: Jur River (15 March 2019)

IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix assessed three locations in Kuarjena, Jur River of Western Bahr el Ghazal following recent clashes between pastoralists and farmers. The unrest resulted in the displacement of 9,672 individuals who fled Akau, Werbet and Madhon (all within Kuarjena area).

South Sudan — Event Tracking: Yei (13 March 2019)

Approximately 14,487 internally displaced persons (IDPs) have fled to Yei (84%) and Mugwo (16%) since January 2019 at the time of reporting. IDPs have primarily fled Otogo, Mykaya and Mugwo due to conflict.
