Somalia — Border Point Flow Monitoring (April 2018)

In April, a total of 30,198 individuals were recorded in border crossing points monitored by the DTM. This represents a slight decrease in comparison with March 2018. The percentage of inflows in comparison of outflows has continuously increased since January 2018, reaching 65% of inflows and 35% of outflows for this month. Most movements have been recorded in Lower Juba region and northern Somalia (especially Buuhoodle border crossing point). 24% of the total moving population were vulnerable, including pregnant and lactating women, children under 5, unaccompanied minors, persons living with a physical disability and elderly people (over 60 years). Finally, main countries of departure for all flows were Ethiopia (39%), Somalia (34%), Kenya (11%), Djibouti (9%), and Yemen (6%). Main countries of destination for all migrants was Somalia (65%), Kenya (11%), Yemen (11%), Ethiopia (8%), and Djibouti (3%).
