This pilot study identifies several trends related to migration towards and through Sudan, an important country at intersection between countries in East and Horn of Africa and Libya, along the Central Mediterranean route. The study explores motivations and intentions of international migrants in Sudan, from the perspectives of migration towards Sudan, life in Sudan after migration and onward migration from Sudan, to understand migration related decision making. It also covers migration routes, information exchange and the possibility of return. The study was carried out, as an exploratory research, using mixed methods approach. It covered 308 migrants consisting of 291 migrants who participated in the survey and 17 migrants who were interviewed. The surveys and interviews were conducted in the cities of Khartoum and Khartoum North
during March 2016.
