During the reporting period, 455 Undocumented Afghan individuals returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing while 405 individuals used the Chaman/Spin Boldak border crossing, bringing the total number of returns this week to 860 (202 families). There is an approximate 57% increase in the total number of returns as compared to the previous week. The total number of Undocumented Afghans that returned spontaneously to Afghanistan since 1st January 2018 through Torkham and Chaman now stands at 19,684 (excluding deportations). In comparison, during the same reporting period last year (Jan 1 – August 4, 2017) a total of 66,631 Undocumented Afghans returned spontaneously to Afghanistan (excluding deportations).
