À propos Nigeria

The escalation of violence between all parties in north-eastern Nigeria since 2014 has resulted in mass displacement and deprivation in the states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe. To better understand the scope of displacement and assess the needs of affected populations, IOM has been implementing its Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) programme starting July 2014, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs). The activities of the DTM project, which consist of conducting baseline assessments and registration for IDPs living in camps and host communities, are currently being carried out in Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe.

The information collected will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive profile of the IDP population in Nigeria which will be shared with all relevant stakeholders and will contribute towards enabling the government of Nigeria and humanitarian partners identify the needs of Nigeria's displaced population and develop interventions for providing IDPs necessary assistance.

This report presents the data collected between October and December 2023, through direct interviews and direct observation by DTM enumerators and triangulated via a network of key informants.

Between 25 and 31 March 2024, a total of 1,465 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.

Nigeria — North-central & North-west Flash Report 161 (25 - 31 March 2024)

On 27 March 2024, armed bandits attacked the community of Mutunji in Maru ward of Maru LGA in Zamfara State. There were no reports of injuries and fatalities. The attack displaced 230 individuals in 42 households to Tsunami community in Rijya ward of Gusau LGA of Zamfara State.

Nigeria — Transhumance Tracking Tool Report — Flow Monitoring Dashboard 2 — Kaduna and Katsina states (January 2024)

This report presents the data for January 2024, collected through direct interviews and direct observation by DTM enumerators and triangulated via a network of key informants. It highlights the number of herders and their herds identified at 51 counting points.

Armed bandits launched a series of attacks in the states of Zamfara and Kaduna between 18 and 24 March 2024. Maradaw, Gusami, Maikuru, and Masha Awo settlements in Gusami Ward of Birnin Magaji LGA were affected in Zamfara State.

Nigeria — Transhumance Tracking Tool Report — Early Warning Dashboard 7 — Kachia and Kaura LGAs, Kaduna State and Faskari and Kaita LGAs, Katsina State (February 2024)

In February 2024, the TTT early warning tool captured 139 alerts in Faskari and Kaita LGAs of Katsina State, and Kachia and Kaura LGAs of Kaduna State. The triangulated alerts included events (26%) and massive/sudden movements (74%) during the period.

In February 2024, the TTT early warning tool captured 126 alerts in Batsari, Dan Musa, Jibia and Kankara LGAs of Katsina State. The triangulated alerts included events (12%) and massive/sudden movements (88%) during the period.

Between 11 and 17 March 2024, a total of 1,409 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.

Nigeria — North-central & North-west Flash Report 159 (11 - 17 March 2024)

On 15 March 2024, armed bandits attacked the communities of Balisa, Jimrawa, Kaura Zomo and Sodingo in Dan Isa ward of Kaura Namoda LGA in Zamfara State. The attacks caused one fatality but no injuries were reported. The attacks affected 2,240 individuals in 373 households.

In February 2024, there were 277 alerts reported alerts, with 238 (86%) classified as events and 39 (14%) as movement alerts. In Adamawa state, Demsa, Lamurde, Girei, and Shelleng LGAs reported event alerts in all instances of reported alerts in the LGAs.

Between 04 and 10 March 2024, a total of 1,102 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.

On 05 March 2024, armed bandits attacked the community of Gbagir in Ityuluv ward of Ukum LGA in Benue State. The attack damaged and destroyed 356 shelters and the belongings of numerous households in the communities. There were reports of 46 injuries and 41 fatalities.

As of December 2023, DTM identified a total of 1,092,196 internally displaced persons (IDPs) in 183,437 households across Benue, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Nasarawa, Plateau, Sokoto, and Zamfara states.

Between 26 February and 03 March 2024, a total of 2,252 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.

Nigeria — North-east Jere LGA - Borno State Flash Report (2 March 2024)

On 2 March 2024, a fire broke out in Muna El-Badawy camp in Jere Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State. The fire damaged and destroyed the shelters and belongings of numerous displaced households. There was a report of one fatality and no injuries reported.

On 03 March 2024, armed bandits attacked the communities of Kanwa, Kadamasa, Takurawa, Marmaru and Bako Gebe in Zurmi ward of Zurmi LGA in Zamfara State. The attacks damaged and destroyed 35 shelters and the belongings of numerous households in the communities.

Between 19 and 25 February 2024, a total of 2,037 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.

On 18 February 2024, armed bandits attacked the communities of Doka in Idon ward of Kajuru LGA and Ungwan Fatuka in Gayam ward of Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State. Forty-five shelters and properties of multiple households were damaged or destroyed in the communities as a result of the attacks.
