À propos Nigeria

The escalation of violence between all parties in north-eastern Nigeria since 2014 has resulted in mass displacement and deprivation in the states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe. To better understand the scope of displacement and assess the needs of affected populations, IOM has been implementing its Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) programme starting July 2014, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs). The activities of the DTM project, which consist of conducting baseline assessments and registration for IDPs living in camps and host communities, are currently being carried out in Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe.

The information collected will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive profile of the IDP population in Nigeria which will be shared with all relevant stakeholders and will contribute towards enabling the government of Nigeria and humanitarian partners identify the needs of Nigeria's displaced population and develop interventions for providing IDPs necessary assistance.

Between 4 and 10 November 2024, a total of 574 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.

Nigeria — Katsina State - Intention Survey (August 2024)

To ascertain the future intentions and aspirations of the IDPs in Katsina State, the DTM surveyed 33 LGAs where IDPs were situated. Out of the 32,281 displaced households in the state, 3,587 were interviewed.

Nigeria — North-central & North-west - Intention Survey (August 2024)

The issue of internal displacement in north-west and north-central Nigeria has persisted for over a decade, with a significant population of 1,092,196 people remaining displaced for extended periods.

Nigeria — Plateau - Intention Survey (August 2024)

To gain insight into the future intentions and aspirations of the IDPs in Plateau State, the DTM surveyed 15 LGAs where IDPs have been located. Out of the total 9,272 displaced households in the state, a sample of 1,326 was interviewed.

Nigeria — Nasarawa - Intention Survey (August 2024)

To discern the future aspirations and intentions of IDPs in Nasarawa State, the DTM surveyed thirteen (13) LGAs where IDPs were situated. Out of the total 3,989 displaced households in the state, a sample of 660 were interviewed.

Nigeria — Kogi State - Intention Survey (August 2024)

To understand the future intentions and aspirations of IDPs in Kogi State, DTM surveyed eight (8) LGAs where IDPs were situated. Out of the 1,944 displaced households in the state, 209 were sampled and interviewed.

Nigeria — Niger - Intention Survey (August 2024)

To understand the future intentions and aspirations of IDPs in Niger State, DTM surveyed 13 LGAs where IDPs were situated. Out of the total 3,447 displaced households in the state, 532 households were sampled and interviewed.

Nigeria — Sokoto - Intention Survey (August 2024)

To ascertain the future intentions and aspirations of the IDPs in Sokoto State, the DTM surveyed 21 LGAs where IDPs were situated. Out of the 17,454 displaced households in the state, 2,317 were interviewed.

Nigeria — Kano State - Intention Survey (August 2024)

To ascertain the future intentions and aspirations of the IDPs in Kano State, the DTM surveyed 32 LGAs where IDPs were situated. Out of the 2,642 displaced households in the state, 512 were sampled and interviewed.

Nigeria — Zamfara - Intention Survey (August 2024)

To ascertain the future intentions and aspirations of the IDPs in Zamfara State, the DTM surveyed 13 LGAs where IDPs were situated. Out of the 23,668 displaced households in the state, 2,366 were interviewed.

Nigeria — Kaduna State - Intention Survey (August 2024)

To ascertain the future intentions and aspirations of the IDPs in Kaduna State, the DTM surveyed 22 LGAs where IDPs were situated. Out of the 20,766 displaced households in the state, 2,447 were interviewed. All IDP households interviewed reside in host communities.

Nigeria — Benue State - Intention Survey (August 2024)

To understand the future intentions and aspirations of IDPs in Benue State, the DTM surveyed 16 LGAs where IDPs were located. From a total population of 70,597 displaced households in the state, a sample of 3,877 households participated in the survey.

Between 28 October and 3 November 2024, a total of 826 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.

Nigeria — North-central & North-west — Flash Report 182 (28 October - 3 November 2024)

On 31 October 2024, a clash occurred between farmers and herders in the communities of Tse Uja and Tse Ule in Mbatian ward, Ukum local government area (LGA), Benue State. This incident affected a total of 64 individuals across 15 households, including 36 children, 18 women and 10 men.

Between 28 October and 3 November 2024, 491 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Benue State, including the Logo local government area (LGA).

Nigeria — North-central & North-west — Flash Report 181 (21 - 27 October 2024)

On 23 October 2024, a clash occurred between farmers and herders in the community of Tse Anyinyi in Borkiyo ward, Ukum local government area (LGA), Benue State. This incident affected a total of 103 individuals across 21 households, including 49 children, 32 women and 21 men.

Nigeria — Transhumance Tracking Tool — Flow Monitoring Dashboard 10 — Kaduna and Katsina states (September 2024)

In September 2024, Transhumance Flow Monitoring tool identified 120 herders in Kaduna State and 182 herders in Katsina State. The animal count was estimated at 519 for Kaduna State and 1,328 for Katsina State.
