In June 2018, there were an estimated 3.9 million foreign nationals present in Turkish territory seeking international protection. Most of them were Syrians (3,562,523 individuals) who were granted temporary protection status. Of these 72% were living in urban settings and 5% were living in camps. since March 2018 the number of Syrians residing in camps has decreased by 10,939. In addition, there were 710,195 foreign nationals with residency permit status including those granted humanitarian residence status. 60,727 irregular migrants were also apprehended in Turkey in the second quarter of 2018.
