On 22 January 2024, fires broke out in Flutari, Gana Ali, and Water Board camps in Monguno Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State, which destroyed the shelters and possessions of many Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Many personal items were lost in the fire, including food ration cards and biometric identification cards. There were no reported injuries or fatalities.
The fire destroyed 73 makeshift shelters affecting 287 individuals in 68 households. The affected individuals included 131 children, 88 women and 68 men.
The victims need shelter and shelter repair kits, other needs include food and NFIs (non-food items).
No assistance has been rendered to the affected population at the time of reporting.
