The escalation of violence between all parties in north-eastern Nigeria since 2014 has resulted in mass displacement and deprivation in the states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe. To better understand the scope of displacement and assess the needs of affected populations, IOM has been implementing its Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) programme starting July 2014, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs). The activities of the DTM project, which consist of conducting baseline assessments and registration for IDPs living in camps and host communities, are currently being carried out in Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe.
The information collected will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive profile of the IDP population in Nigeria which will be shared with all relevant stakeholders and will contribute towards enabling the government of Nigeria and humanitarian partners identify the needs of Nigeria's displaced population and develop interventions for providing IDPs necessary assistance.

List Of Displacement Sites Assessed 31
During the period of 13 - 19 April 2020, a total of 1,465 movements were recorded, composed of 1,158 arrivals and 307 departures. Arrivals were recorded at locations in Askira/Uba, Bama, Damboa, Dikwa, Gwoza, Konduga, Mobbar and Monguno Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno State.
From January to March 2020, a total of 33,409 movements were recorded, composed of 26,750 arrivals and 7,659 departures.
During the period of 6 - 12 April 2020, a total of 2,048 movements were recorded, composed of 1,506 arrivals and 542 departures. Arrivals were recorded at locations in Askira/Uba, Bama, Biu, Dikwa, Gwoza, Hawul, Mobbar and Ngala Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno State.
During the period of 30 March - 5 April 2020, a total of 1,603 movements were recorded, composed of 1,120 arrivals and 483 departures.

During the period of 23 - 29 March 2020, a total of 1,076 movements were recorded, composed of 739 arrivals and 337 departures. Arrivals were recorded at locations in Askira/Uba, Bama, Dikwa, Gwoza, Jere, Mobbar, Monguno and Ngala Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno State.
During 16 - 22 March 2020, a total of 2,670 movements were recorded, composed of 2,244 arrivals and 426 departures. Arrivals were recorded at locations in Askira/Uba, Bama, Biu, Damboa, Dikwa, Gwoza, Jere, Mobbar, Monguno and Ngala Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno State.
Following the recently reported fire incident at Waterboard IDP Camp on 12th March 2020, another fire outbreak was recorded on 22nd March 2020 at about 12:10 PM. The recent incident has left a total number of 248 individuals (48 households) without shelters and properties.
During 9 - 15 March 2020, a total of 2,666 movements were recorded, composed of 2,369 arrivals and 297 departures.
INCIDENTSA fire outbreak at the Zone “C” Area of Government Senior Science Secondary School (GSSSS) Camp Monguno, on 17th March 2020, at about 10:20 AM has left 767 individuals (212 households) without shelters and belongings.
At about 2:10 PM on 12th March 2020, a fire incident was reported at Waterboard IDP Camp affecting a total number of 62 individuals (14 households).
During 2 - 8 March 2020, a total of 2,643 movements were recorded, composed of 2,222 arrivals and 421 departures.

IOM manages the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) in Nigeria and other countries around the world, to support humanitarian communities with data on displacement and mobility.
From 24 February – 1 March 2020, a total of 2,376 movements were recorded, composed of 1,782 arrivals and 594 departures.
During 17 – 23 February 2020, a total of 3,067 movements were recorded, composed of 2,151 arrivals and 916 departures.

DTM Global Survey 2023
The Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Global Survey 2023 is an annual stocktaking exercise which aims to present IOM DTM's operations and activities transparently. The Global Survey focuses on operations active from January 1 to December 31, 2023, with data collection occurring from February to April 2024.
