In May 2016, the DTM assessments covered five provinces: Muyinga, Ruyigi, Rutana, Makamba and Kirundo. The assessments identified 41,423 IDPs in 8,758 households. The displaced population is composed of 46% men and boys and 54% women and girls. 30.5% of the IDPs are less than five years old and 29% are between 6 and 17 years old. The majority of IDPs (69%) fled their home due to the socio-political situation while 25% fled due to natural disasters and 6% for other reasons.
