From April to July 2018 a localized conflict in Gedeo and West Guji zones caused the displacement of an estimated 958,175 people. Between 1 to 13 February 2019, DTM's Rapid Responses Assessment (RRA) estimates that 619,071 individuals are still displaced across both zones, with 265,727 IDPs in Gedeo and 353,344 IDPs in West Guji. Of these, 524,584 IDPs are living in host communities (290,771 individuals in 97 communities in West Guji and 233,813 individuals in 143 communities in Gedeo) while 94,487 IDPs are living in collective sites (62,573 individuals in 47 sites in West Guji and 31,914 individuals in 13 sites in Gedeo).
