Nigeria — Joint Post - Flood Situation Report — Kebbi State (10 December 2024)

Between 28 October and 8 November 2024, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM), in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Kebbi State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) identified 117 locations in Kebbi State that were impacted by floods or received internally displaced persons (IDPs) due to the flooding. Through a network of 115 key informants and field focal points, and in close coordination with other humanitarian partners and local authorities, the assessment was jointly conducted in these locations to provide insights to the government and humanitarian partners on the affected population's primary needs, vulnerabilities, and mobility intentions. 

In the eighteen (18) local government areas (LGAs) of Kebbi State that were assessed, the joint assessment team identified 280,230 individuals in 54,617 households affected by the floods. These individuals included 195,789 non-displaced individuals impacted by the floods but remained in their communities. The affected population included 66,532 displaced individuals. Twenty-five per cent (25%) of the affected houses were habitable but need repair, forty-five per cent of the houses were partially damaged and twenty-seven per cent were completely destroyed. In ninety-three per cent (93%) of the locations assessed, crop/vegetable farming was among the primary sources of income.
