About Nigeria
The escalation of violence between all parties in north-eastern Nigeria since 2014 has resulted in mass displacement and deprivation in the states of Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe. To better understand the scope of displacement and assess the needs of affected populations, IOM has been implementing its Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) programme starting July 2014, in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and State Emergency Management Agencies (SEMAs). The activities of the DTM project, which consist of conducting baseline assessments and registration for IDPs living in camps and host communities, are currently being carried out in Adamawa, Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Taraba and Yobe.
The information collected will contribute to the provision of a comprehensive profile of the IDP population in Nigeria which will be shared with all relevant stakeholders and will contribute towards enabling the government of Nigeria and humanitarian partners identify the needs of Nigeria's displaced population and develop interventions for providing IDPs necessary assistance.

Round 12 of DTM data collection in Nigeria’s north-west and north-central regions was conducted between 13 September and 24 October 2023.
Six LGAs have been mapped as locations with IDPs in Benue State based on DTM Round 11 (March 2023).
On December 24th, 2023, a series of devastating attacks unfolded across numerous communities in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, prompting urgent humanitarian response. The attackers targeted residents, resulting in the displacement of 1,868 households and 13,310 individuals.
Between 18 and 24 December 2023, a total of 1,336 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.
Between 11 and 17 December 2023, a total of 944 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.
In November 2023, a total of 318 alerts were reported, comprising 262 events (82%) and 56 movements (18%).
Between 04 and 10 December 2023, a total of 1,073 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.
Between 27 November and 03 December 2023, a total of 1,113 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.
Six LGAs have been mapped as locations with IDPs in Benue State based on DTM Round 11 (March 2023).
Between 20 and 26 November 2023, a total of 1,126 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.
Between 13 and 19 November 2023, a total of 812 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Adamawa and Borno states.
This report presents results from the alert tool for October 2023. The TTT early warning tool captured 35 alerts in Faskari and Kaita LGAs of Katsina State, and Kachia and Kaura LGAs of Kaduna State.
This report presents results from the alert tool for October 2023. The TTT early warning tool captured 86 alerts in Batsari, Dan musa, Jibia and Kankara LGAs of Katsina State. The triangulated alerts included 82 (95%) events and 4 (5%) massive/sudden movements recorded during the period.
In October 2023, 317 alerts were reported, comprising 273 events (86%) and 44 movements (14%). The reported event alerts encompass agro-pastoral conflicts, inter and intra-community tensions, violent clashes, kidnappings for ransom, cattle rustling, and robberies, among others.
Between 06 and 12 November 2023, a total of 179 new arrivals were recorded at locations in Borno State. The new arrivals were recorded at locations in Bama, Chibok, Gubio, Gwoza, Kala/Balge, Monguno and Ngala Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the most conflict-affected Borno State.
The Transhumance Tracking Tool (TTT) collects key data on transhumance movements in Katsina State, with the aim of providing the information needed for the implementation of support programs for populations on the official and unofficial transhumance corridors.

Registration provides a more in-depth analysis of specific needs by capturing bio data using the DTM-developed Biometric Registration and Verification Application (B.R.a.Ve) system, which accurately registers IDPs.
