About Djibouti
In Djibouti, DTM was activated in May 2017, in response to important migration movements mainly from Ethiopia heading to Yemen and Saudi Arabia through the Horn of Africa. DTM is operational in Djibouti to gather, analyse and disseminate critical, multi-layered information on the mobility, vulnerabilities and needs of migrants on the move that enables decision-makers and responding partners to provide targeted, context-specific assistance.
In order to facilitate humanitarian interventions, DTM works closely with IOM’s other programmes through referring identified populations in need of assistance at flow monitoring points to IOM’s Direct Assistance, Health, Voluntary Humanitarian Return (VHR), Protection and Migrant Rapid Response Mechanism (MRRM) programmes. Furthermore, DTM Djibouti supports Governmental partners such as the National Office of Assistance to the Refugees and the Disaster victims (ONARS), the Djibouti National Institute of Statistics (INSD), and other partners including but not limited to UNICEF, UNHCR, WFP, UNOPS, ICRC, DRC through providing better understanding of migration patterns through Djibouti for better response planning.

Following the border closure in Ethiopia and due to the stricter border management policies in Yemen, some of the migrants who were transiting through Djibouti on their way to or from the Arabian Peninsula found themselves stranded in the country.

Pendant le mois de juin 2020, 2 751 mouvements ont été observés aux points de suivi des flux de population à Djibouti. Cela représente une baisse de 4% de la moyenne journalière par rapport aux 3 730 mouvements de migrants observés pendant le mois de mai.
During the month of June 2020, 2,751 movements were observed at flow monitoring points in Djibouti, which is a decrease of 4% daily average movements in comparison of the 3,730 migrants observed in May.

During the month of May 2020, 11,449 movements were observed at flow monitoring points in Djibouti. The daily average movements have increased by 69% in comparison of the 6,763 movements observed in April.

During the month of April 2020, 6,763 movements were observed at flow monitoring points in Djibouti. This number has decreased by 40% compared to the 11,222 movements observed in March.
