About Brazil

At the end of 2017, the Government of Brazil requested IOM to apply DTM in the context of Venezuelan migration. DTM has collected demographic characteristics and needs using individual surveys since January 2018 to provide a profile of the Venezuelan migrants in Roraima, Brazilian northern state, that has become the point of entry of Venezuelan migration into Brazil.

In order to facilitate humanitarian interventions, DTM collects data across Roraima, processed by IOM’s own DTM team, and then shared with key government and humanitarian partners, it enables timely identification of vulnerable populations and their needs, thus strengthening coordinated efforts of all humanitarian actors.
